Julian explains how the Malika is a eternal optimist and how the building of the new school is a excellent example of the power of vision in the face of adversity(misfortune). He goes on to explain how every experience good or bad teaches lessons and opens doors for opportunity. Julian then explains how a person can use his/her mind to the fullest. John then asks Julian how to achieve eternal happiness hoping to get a quick fix. John narrates a story of a boy who travels a hundred miles to find a wise schoolteacher. John identifies the analogy in the tale which is to focus all your mental power on what you love to do and you should achieve eternal happiness. He then explains how society in the West has learned to fear and worry to much. He then explains how that can effect our lives by making our brain think positive thoughts. Julian then suggests some techniques to master your mind. He mentions the Heart of Rose, Opposition thinking and The Secret of the Lake. Julian starts off explaining how a focused mind can achieve great things. He uses a magnifying glass and a piece of paper as a example. Julian has a flashback of the experience of waking up at 4:00am while living with the sages. He then explains how all the people who rise with the sun have identified their purpose and that's why they get up early. Meanwhile, Julian explains how the sages would use the Secret of the Lake to improve their self-image. Julian then emphasizes on the importance of goal setting and John has a flashback in which he was playing football in high-school and he recalls not having any game plan. Julian takes John to the community center and they sit in the yoga room where they talk about bad habits. John recalls that a book he had read a book on law which had stated that you need 21 days to install a good habit which commences a huge argument. After the argument settles Julian asks John to do as many push-ups as he can. After John does this Julian asks him to do ten more which leaves John exhausted. He explains how pain can enter you into the unknown and he just uses the example he had just created. When he asked John to do ten more push-ups he had reached for his resources that seemed unknown to him.
