Julian narrates a story that was told to him when he was studying at Harvard. John spots a spider on his Persian rug and since he is arachnophobic, he runs up the stairs and into his bedroom. Julian follows him up the stairs and enters his bedroom. He then explains how fear is a creation of your own mind. He explains how the Sages are fearless and always tackle their fears head-on. “The characteristics of the Sages are a pure reflection of me”. Julian explains. He describes how all the sages move patiently and gracefully. The sages also have system they call The Queue where they stand in line for no reason at all to practice discipline and patience. John thinks this is insane (I thought so too). Julian asks John to practice the art of Kraizen(self-leadership, self mastery) which comes in ten different steps. Julian tells John to practice the Ritual of Solitude. Telling him to go to a quiet place and concentrate on a beautiful picture. These pictures help sooth a over-active mind. He then asks him to practice it in approximately the same time to make it a ritual. He then recommends the ritual of physicality which states that out of the 168 hours in a week you should be dedicating 5 hours to exercise. John thinks about doing yoga and so head back to the yoga room. He then gives Julian a trick for breathing properly(which Jenny had told him).
